Religious Education News

Religious Education classes begin promptly at  8:45 to 9:45 and includes the 10:00 AM Mass. All children are expected to attend Mass as this is part of the program.

The Lenten Penance Service will be held on Saturday March 10th from 2:30 to 3:30PM. Children in grades 3 to 9 are expected to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation on this day in preparation for Easter. Children can come to church anytime during that hour, receive the sacrament and leave after penance. Attendance will be taken and children are expected to attend CCD and Mass on Sunday March 10th.

We are still collecting cans and bottles. Money collected will be given to Fr. Ray to help with the heating bill.

The Religious Education Office telephone number has changed. The phone number is  508 673 0852, listen to the menu for Religious Education and leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I  may also be reached at 508 673 4954, if you have  any questions and/or concerns regarding the Religious Education Program.
Thank You,

E-MAIL ADDRESS

With the rise in cost for postage, paper, ink and printing and the decline in parish financial support, new ways must be found to convey information to members of our parish family. I noticed that on the parish registration program there is a means to communicate with parishioners by email; although I have not at this time quite mastered how, it would be a savings in the areas mentioned above.  Also looking into the cost effectiveness of “on-line giving” by ParishSoft and Church Management Systems. Those who would be interested in this would not need a “box” of parish support envelopes because the “box” would be logging into the secure program on your computer. With email there is the possibility of sending the parish bulletin, special parish fundraising events and other information at substantial savings . So let us see if this will work: if you have an email address and would like the parish to send PARISH INFORMATION to you by email, then please fill out the form below and return it  using the church basket.  Please print clearly, you may have noticed, the eyes are not what they were. Thank You

Online giving

More and more of us are using our computers, not only to garner information from the world , to see what the best prices are available when we shop or to keep in touch with friends but also to take care of our financial responsibilities.  Many already have access to their banking information and pay their bills online, I am one of those.  In the coming years close to 85%  of the population , if they aren’t already, will jump on this wagon of financial convenience; and it is very convenient!  We must also keep up with technology or perish by our lack of use of the opportunities that now present themselves.

Three companies have giving information concerning “ONLINE GIVING” which mean no more budget envelopes for those who choose to enroll in this program. The benefits have the potential to be , well very good, and  lets be honest, when the monthly budget is less than five thousand dollars and the bills for gas heat (the church and hall), electricity and the oil heat (the CCD Center and rectory) are will over six thousand dollars a month not including other financial responsibilities to the City of Fall River, and others; well there is a problem.

I know that this is not for everyone. Soon a letter will be sent giving more information and asking for your input.

The only thing that is free is God’s grace and how I wish more would take advantage of it.
